Riso Donabe Black Katate S

The Black Katate Donabe by Riso Porcelain is a single-serving clay pot with a side handle, "katate" (片手) meaning "one hand" in Japanese, a form that makes it easy to lift and pour directly from the pot to the bowl. Finished in a deep black glaze with a subtly textured surface, it brings Riso Porcelain's refined aesthetic to everyday cooking. Suited for rice, soups, hot pot dishes, and more.

Material: Clay

Dimensions: Ø 5.1" excl. handle × 5.1" H (Ø 130 × 130 mm)

Care

  • Compatible with gas stovetop. Do not use on induction or electric cooktops.
  • Do not use for deep frying.
  • Transfer leftover broth to a separate container promptly after use and wash without soaking. The clay is porous and absorbs moisture, which can cause odor and mold if left sitting.
  • After washing, leave the lid off and heat the empty pot over a low flame for about 10 minutes to dry completely before storing. Do not leave the empty pot on heat for extended periods.
  • If using a dishwasher, remove promptly once the cycle ends and allow to air dry completely before storing.
  • Discontinue use if cracks appear on the base of the pot.
  • Always use a trivet to protect surfaces, as the base becomes very hot during cooking.
